Dr. Weixing Tong received a B.S. and a master degree in geology from Hefei University of Technology, China and graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz, with a Ph.D. degree in Earth Sciences. He previously worked as a senior hydrogeologist and project manager in a consulting firm specialized in groundwater development and management. He joined Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board in 1999 and currently works as a senior engineering geologist and unit chief. His team is managing over 350 underground storage tank (UST) contamination cases in Los Angeles coastal area. He is also a senior engineering geologist for Water Quality in Area of Oil and Gas Production program (SB4). He developed an analytical model for estimation of MTBE plume length. He has published several papers in professional journals. </br></br>Dr. Tong has licenses for California Professional Geologist (P.G.), Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG), and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG). He serves as a Subject Materials Expert (SME) for California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. Dr. Tong taught upper level cause on Hydrogeology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He serves as a graduate student research advisor at California State University, Dominguez Hills and Los Angeles. Dr. Tong is the chairman of Los Angeles Environmental Forum Council. Dr. Tong served as the president of Southern California Chinese American Environmental Protection Association (SCCAEPA) between 2010 and 2013, and now serves as a current board member.
